Jim and I want to say a BIG thank you to Janet and Ed (foster parents) and all of the DRC folks who make these adoptions possible and do the hard work to fit the dogs to those of us interested in adopting. Gus/Finnegan was a trooper in the car -- we drove for about 7 hours with breaks for water and walks. He met 'his brother' Micky in the yard and they romped happily and played hard -- same thing this morning. He has some weight to lose (is at least 80 lbs and should probably be closer to 65) - his 'brother' Micky and he will romp it away - they are already great buddies less than 24 hours. Will attach videoclips at some point. They will also likely be good influences on one another (as you can see from the photos) - Gus/Finnegan LOVES the car and Micky isn't really keen but loves Finnegan so it should work out pretty well. The weather is spectacular so they are playing ball, running around the yard, playing 'bait and chase' the other, etc. I would love to be able to share photos with Gus' original owners if they are interested so they can see him/how he is doing and where he is living (we have 4 plus acres, with trails at the end of the lane, the beaches 15 min. away; dog friendly parks, etc. etc. etc.). Will keep you all posted...here are a couple of 'first photos.'
With deep appreciation,
Terese, Jim, Micky and Finnegan (Gus)

This is such great news. It sounds like Finnegan/Gus is right where he belongs! Thanks for sharing.

Terese, congratulations. I know you said you had put in for Gus. So glad that you were able to adopt him. He and Mickey remind me of our Fozzie and Ember...best buds from day 1. Enjoy!

Hi Julie,
I know that MANY people wanted him as there were lots of applications for Gus (renamed him Finnegan - didn't think it would be a problem as he didn't consistently respond to 'Gus') so we feel incredibly lucky ... we've been waiting for a while for the 'right dog.' I drove from Maine to get him this past weekend...he is a good dog and he and our 3 year old doodle have become fast friends...Finnegan has some serious weight to lose as I cannot feel his ribs at all and he has no waistline...we're going to go slowly with that...Micky should keep him active as he likes to romp and we have a few acres for them to do so...
Good luck with your application process...the right dog will come along ... Terese
