Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
Hi! My wife and I have a 9 month old little girl and a year and 3 month old Sheepadoodle boy named Mondo. We hadn't intended to have a puppy and baby at the same time but our Sheepadoodle before Mondo developed bone cancer at the age of 2 and we lost her at 2.5 years old. The breeder wanted to give us another dog and this is how we ended up with Mondo. Our first Sheepadoodle was great by 6 months old and had basic obedience nailed down by then. We took her to training classes from 8 weeks on just like we did with Mondo. Mondo has severe resource guarding. When we brought him home at 8 weeks old he growled and guarded his first meal. We have been in training with him since then. His guarding hasn't gotten any better. It almost seems worse. We had a behaviorist come out to have him assessed a few months ago and she suggested at that time that we find him a home without small
children. We made an attempt to rehome him then but people see a cute fluffy dog and don't realize how serious this is. We aren't your typical family who neglects the dog when the baby arrives. He gets 2.5 to 3 hours of exercise a day. We brought the baby to the dog park each day starting at 2 weeks old so he could run. He needs to be with a family with no kids and who have the resources to train him and work with him to lessen his guarding. We are not capable of doing this and the risk with our daughter crawling and moving now is too great.
Tell us about your dog(s) and/or other pets that you have:

Perhaps I don't understand.  You requested that the DRC re-home your doodle, Mondo.  You or your breeder spoke with Jacquie in September, but nothing has happened since then?  I explained that you need to fill out the re-home application - we need that information as we use it to figure out what kind of home or foster home situation needed.  You already filled out the re-home application in September?  You did one recently?  I checked with the adoption coordinator by e-mail to see if there was an application on file.  There isn't.  So, either way something happened between you filling it out and us receiving it.  Can you try again?

Aimee, I sent the information you shared to our adoption coordinator.  I asked if your re-home application had been received.  Hopefully this will help get your sheepadoodle a new home.  Please let me know if nothing happens in the next week.

I am sorry you need to re-home your doodle. Have you contacted the breeder? The very first thing that must be done is to contact the breeder. All reputable breeders have a clause in their purchase contracts stating that they must be contacted prior to transferring ownership of the dog. The very best breeders will take the dog back; most will give their permission for the dog to be re-homed through a reputable organization like DRC, but they must be given that option.
Here is a link to the re-home guidelines; http://doodlerescue.org/notes/DRC_REHOME_GUIDELINES
And the link to the rehome application: http://doodlerescue.org/page/rehome-assistance-form which can be found at the top of the page. I will send an e-mail to our re-homing coordinator. Here is a link to our rehome guidelines: http://doodlerescue.org/notes/DRC_REHOME_GUIDELINES
If you do decide that to surrender the doodle, the next step after contacting the breeder would be to submit a rehome application: http://doodlerescue.org/page/rehome-assistance-form
The rescue must have full disclosure, including vet records, before accepting a dog into the program.
