Actually my  labradoodle (breeder bought) is small - he is 27 pounds and 17" tall at the shoulder.  He is technically not a mini because 16" tall is the cut-off.  He looks big because the multi-generation Australian labradoodles look just like their big counterparts.  Our rescue, is the cream doodle that we think is an English Goldendoodle.  He is really stocky and is only 19" tall but weighs almost 65 pounds.  Even though he is short, he is BIG.  He is a big goofy guy.Just to get a size perspective here is a picture of he and Clancy with a large goldendoodle. Notice that Ned is sitting while the other two are laying down.

Go to the top of the page here and click on the word volunteer. There is a drop down menu.  Read all of the info there and then you can fill out the volunteer application.  I see that you posted that you are afraid of big dogs.  I am cautious about dogs also - some people are just naturally wonderful with dogs - my son and daughter-in-law both are.  Many of the rescues are fearful and anxious rather than aggressive.  There are quite a few things that volunteers are needed for that are not necessarily fostering a dog.

I don't see a volunteer button but I'm willing to domestic anything you may have to train me. I'm so new at this that I'm green. I'm willing to foster pull and check petfinder all you have to do is ask . I will tell you that I'm afraid of large dogs.

Thank you for the friend request.    Ned, my smaller doodle, usually is a smiley guy but that day with Santa, he was very serious.  Clancy, is pretty easy going, but does not like the camera flash, so.....  it was a fun time trying to get a good picture.  The Santa picture-shoot was at our local Pet adoption Center  where we found Clancy.  We try to support it when we can - we are so grateful that they rescued him from the local kill shelter.  We are still shocked that anyone would abandon a great dog like Clancy.
