Profile Information

Where are you located?
Hauppauge, NY 11788
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
We are a loving family who have had bichons for 18 years. At one time there were 3. Sadly, two have passed but they lived long happy lives with us. Currently we just have Daisy, who is 11 and just precious. She is blind as she developed cataracts at a young age, but it doesn't stop her from being an active and loving dog. We would very much like to add a 2nd dog to our family and saw the listing for Peanut on petfinder. Our family consists of my husband and son who is 26. He works part time and is home the rest of the day. He has high functioning autism. Our dogs have always been his best friends. Peanut sounded like the perfect fit for our family and we completed the application you have over the weekend. We were wondering what the status of that application was. In addition we have a 24 year old son who lives in Chicago. He has a golden doodle, who comes to visit every summer.
Tell us about your doodle(s) and/or other pets that you have:
We have one bichon, female named Daisy. She is the sweetest dog. She is loving, affectionate and playful in spite of the fact that she is blind. She has free roam of our home and sleeps upstairs with one of us at night. She misses her companions as our other dogs have passed (see above). She is a true lap dog and a wonderful companion for the three of us. She is groomed every 8 weeks and brushed on a regular basis. Our home is fenced in and it full of love for the right dog. She is friendly and loves other dogs. She has NO aggressive tendencies. She is a real mush! She loved her two siblings.
Where did you get your doodle(s) and/or why you have chosen a doodle
We are looking to adopt Peanut, a bichon mix.
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Tell us a bit as to why you are here:
We would LOVE to find the right dog for our family. We love bichons and have had them in our family for 18 years. Daisy is 15 lbs.

Hi Carrie,

Welcome to the DRC website.

Please read our adoption Policies and Procedures under the "About DRC-Our Mission" tab in the blue section at the top of the page.

Our rescue group is registered and administered in NJ, but we are not a shelter. Our dogs are fostered in private homes throughout North America. The state in which each dog is fostered is indicated by a state abbreviation in front of his/her name, and also mentioned in the first sentence of the listing information. We do not permit commercial transport of our dogs, even if an adopter wants to pay for it, as it is not in the best interests of the dog. We do allow out-of-state adoptions, but you must drive or fly to the dog's foster location and then drive the dog home yourself.

Peanut is fostered in Texas.
