Profile Information

Where are you located?
Reston, VA
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
I grew up with standard poodles and have now fallen in love with doodles. I'm interested in using my marketing skills to help the group however possible.
Tell us about your doodle(s) and/or other pets that you have:
I have a wonderful 6-year old male standard poodle mix named Wesley. I'm not sure what mix Wesley is but he's definitely not a pure-bred poodle.
Where did you get your doodle(s) and/or why you have chosen a doodle
I like to say that Wesley rescued me. Adopting him led to making many much needed positive changes in my life. I was lucky enough to see Wesley listed on Petfinder.com. He was in a shelter an hour and half away from my home. I immediately told my boss I had to leave work and took off to meet him. Why a doodle? I love how smart they are and their bouncy enthusiasm for life. The fact that many are allergy friendly and don't shed is just a bonus!
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Tell us a bit as to why you are here:
I am only involved in terms of giving financial support when I'm able. I am currently unable to foster or adopt but I do have time to give if my skills set is useful. I have been in marketing for 15 years doing attendee and program promotion for an association and customer service and product marketing for corporations. I've got basic Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver skills. I can do basic HTML code but currently don't know Javascript or Flash. I'm a fast and accurate typist and actually enjoy data entry. If any of this would be helpful, please feel free to let me know.

Wesley on patrol

Posted on July 1, 2010 at 10:00am 0 Comments

We had beautiful weather here in Virginia yesterday and Wesley persuaded my neighbor and I to sit on the patio for several hours. He likes his newly fenced yard but LOVES that the cat next door likes it too.

Wesley is forever hopeful that Haley will come over to play with him. In true cat style she lounges on the 6 foot wall between yards taunting and hissing at him. He was "on patrol" for much of the afternoon.

Wesley… Continue

Hi, Catherine.
You should start a discussion in the Health Group with your question. Sending a message to group members does not permit anyone to respond to you. It's just a way to make an announcement to people.
Lumps of all kinds are pretty common in doodles and many other breeds. They are often just harmless sebaceous cysts, but you should always have them checked by a vet and aspirated to be sure they aren't something to worry about. Fatty tumors are common, too.
