Nancy, Ned and Clancy said… We have an English Springer Spaniel who is 8 and from a back yard breeder. He has orthopedic problems, allergies, anxiety - Man! Never again with the back yard breeder! He is the sweetest dog ever but oh so hyper and a people shadow. We lost our lab mix a year and a half ago to cancer. He began limping, got a diagnosis and passed away in the space of 2 weeks. He was 12 and we thought we had many good years left with him. He was our pack leader and had raised all of the family's dogs to get along. He looked a lot like King in your pictures.
My doodles are both 3 1/2. We got Ned at 3 1/2 months from a reputable breeder - this was mostly luck on our part because we knew some about puppy mills but not how much they trick you on the internet. Boy have we learned a lot since then!!!
We found Clancy in March of 2010 at a fund raiser for our local pet adoption center. He was given March 17, 2008 as his birth date which is also Ned's birth date so they share a birthday. Luckily, Clancy had been rescued from a local kill shelter by the pet adoption center. He was either abandoned in a back yard and turned in by a neighbor, or on the streets - not sure which. He had been chipped but the address was an empty house.
Nancy, Ned and Clancy said… I am thrilled for you!!!! Oscar won't be Brewster, but I think he will worm his way into your heart quickly. He has had such a sad life so far and I think you will provide him with the loving attention and home that he will thrive in.
Congrats! Which dog is Oscar? I didn't see him listed on the available doodles on the first page. Either way, I am excited for you.
My Ollie's name was Oscar when we adopted him this summer.
Tina said… Deborah, so sorry to hear about Brewster. Keeping you in my thoughts!
Nancy, Ned and Clancy said… I am so sorry about Brewster. I lost a dog to cancer about 1 1/2 years ago - it can be so sudden. Be sure to fill out an application (form at the top of the page), click on the Doodles in Need section, check Petfinder (putting in all zip codes within driving distance), and google in shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Check back often.
