I actually want to help you, the DRC!
Tell us about your doodle(s) and/or other pets that you have:
I have one doodle, Callie (aka "The Callinator" aka "the furry monster" aka "the muppet"). She's one of my very favorite people.
Where did you get your doodle(s) and/or why you have chosen a doodle
I didn't even know I was getting a doodle. I fell in love with Callie on petfinder - she had been turned into a local high-kill shelter. She's a very doodley doodle though!
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Tell us a bit as to why you are here:
I have fostered for IDOG and am available to foster (or help in any way) for the DRC.

Catching Up With Luna Foster Doodle

Posted on February 4, 2012 at 9:57pm 11 Comments

Well, Luna continues to be prove herself to be one of the sweetest doodles I've ever fostered. She certainly still has her issues...and lots of them...but I definitely see small pockets of progress.

On January 16th, Luna started her heartworm treatment. She'd been on doxycycline for five weeks prior to that initial injection. Luna is my first heartworm positive dog and I just didn't know what to expect. Would she be in pain? (yes, a bit - it's a large, deep injection) Would…

Luna Foster Doodle (cross post from DK)

Posted on January 5, 2012 at 9:45pm 3 Comments

(posted this week on DK, apologies to DRC...forgot to cross post!!!)

Luna came into the DRC rescue program with her (suspected) sister Stella (and they are aptly named...these dogs will be someone's moon and stars!). I of course don't know what happened in their 2+ years beforehand, but some horrible person did a real number on these girls. I had both Stella and Luna for about a month and while Stella is more outgoing and less fearful than Luna,…

The Importance of a Single Word

Posted on May 11, 2011 at 5:50pm 6 Comments

So Yankee Doodle has been with his new family about 10 days now. Yankee's new mom, Wanda, and I are friends on facebook and I've greatly enjoyed reading her posts about Yankee, seeing the pictures, and emailing back and forth about various things (I love keeping up with my fosters like that!). This morning Wanda posted a statement that has just stayed with me all day, and who but my beloved DRC family could understand why this resonated so strongly with me!

Yankee Doodle joined his forever family!!!

Posted on May 2, 2011 at 10:18am 6 Comments

On Sunday, Yankee Doodle was adopted by a lovely couple in Villa Rica, GA. Wanda and Don lost their beloved pug, Dixie, a little over a year ago and decided they were ready to take the "plunge" and get another dog. They were drawn to Yankee for several reasons...their son has a labradoodle and they liked the breed, Wanda is a "Yankee" herself, Yankee doodle is on the small side, and they wanted a scruffy (more wiry) coated dog. On my part, I liked that they were experienced dog owners (and…

Frannie: Thanks. Your fosters have been beautiful dogs, maybe not always on the outside but always on the inside. Besides no dog could get any dirtier or stinkier than Boomer when he's at the dog park waiting for a belly rub. So that's not going to be a problem. I've learned that everything can be washed and all "extraneous" chews can be covered with wood putty and stain.

Frannie, Calle does look a lot like Baxter. How funny. Well we know there not related but you're right, they sure could be! Calle is a good size. Baxter is just a big boy but that's why we chose him. He's my big 95 lb. Teddy bear.
