Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
I am 58 year old female. I work from home. I have reached a time in my life that I have time to adopt or foster another labradoodle. I live in the city during the week and on the weekends Riley and I go to my place in the country. I have 20 AC to roam on.
Tell us about your dog(s) and/or other pets that you have:
Riley 7 year old neutered male labradoodle
Meow 1 1/2 yo cat that Riley rescued after a storm.
Have you read our adoption policies?
My boy came from Tegan Park in Australia.I wanted a dog with a loving personality, smart, and full of fun.
Are you aware that many doodles are not allergy friendly and that many of them do shed?
yes
Are you aware that we do not adopt to homes with children under 10, and that we do not adopt dogs for service work?
yes
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Are you interested in volunteering with our rescue?
I am not involved in rescue at this time. I have a 7 year old neutered male labradoodle I have fallen in love with the personality and the goofball loving nature.

Lynne, I am the regional director for VA and live in Northern VA. We are looking for a knowledgeable doodle owner to do a home visit for a dog that we are trying to get adopted with special needs in Ashland VA. I noticed that you live south of Richmond. If you could help out with this home visit that would be great. You can call me at home to discuss the info 703-590-2850

Thanks!

Hi Lynne, If you would like to foster, please read the volunteer section above and fill out the foster form. We also need volunteers to transport doodles or pull them from shelters. You can sign up for that also.
Information regarding adopting:
Check the OUR ADOPTABLE DOODLES section. When you are looking at the pictures, notice that the two letters in front of the dog’s name mean the state they are being fostered in. While the DRC allows out of state applicants, they cannot transport the rescues and will not let them fly, so you need to be within driving distance of the foster.
Here are some other ideas for finding a rescue doodle:
Click on the REGIONAL LISTINGS section for doodles with other organizations;
PETFINDER (putting in all zip codes within driving distance);
GOOGLE in shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Here is a helpful article on how to find a doodle on Petfinder and in shelters: http://doodlerescue.org/group/isadoodleforyou/forum/topics/looks-like-a-doodle-to

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in doodles, adoption, and DRC. Take a look around the site and be sure to read the Policies and Procedures:http://doodlerescue.org/notes/DRC_ADOPTION_POLICIES_AND_PROCEDURES and let me know if you have any questions. Please pay special attention to the policy on adopting dogs out to people who live in urban environments.

You can also look at the Regional Listings section for a listing of other adoptable dogs in your area:http://doodlerescue.org/group/doodlesinneedinnorthamerica -- these dogs are at shelters or with other rescues so their adoption criteria may vary.
