Where are you located?
Hilliard, OHIO
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
My name is Rebecca and our family is interested in adopting a rescue dog. We are a family that loves animals and have been contemplating and adoption for a long time. I have a 15 year old son (almost 16!) that is very involved in the community and is the most avid animal lover of all.
Tell us about your doodle(s) and/or other pets that you have:
We had been involved in cat rescue (a few dogs along the way) and one cat remains in our home, Squeaky, because he can't meow. :-)

When my son was in Kindergarten, a litter of kittens was born under a modular section of his school. We got them all spayed and neutered (including mom) and found homes for all of them. We kept two of them, Harley and Tanner. They are with my ex husband, but I do watch them when he travels. They stayed with him (divorce) so they didn't have to move and so it was less of a change for our son. However, they are still very much a part of my life. They are now 11 years old.
Where did you get your doodle(s) and/or why you have chosen a doodle
I grew up with a golden retriever, Taffy, who died of cancer and old age and loved her. I'd love to have another one but don't want to deal with that much shedding or a dog that large. I found out about the goldendoodle and the labradoodle breed at a charity event and fell in love with them. I really like their size (more medium to medium large) and I like that their fur does not shed as much and that they have fewer allergy issues. I'd also prefer to adopt from a rescue because we do not want a puppy and we believe adopting from a rescue allows us to find out more information about the dogs personality and allows for a better fit for the dog and adoptees.
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Tell us a bit as to why you are here:
I am no longer involved in rescue.

Welcome Rebecca.  If you have any questions about doodles or DRC just let me know; I have 2 doodles and 1 was adopted through DRC this summer.  Please know that there are often a lot of unknowns to a rescue dog's history.  My Ollie was a rehome through DRC and while I got to meet his former family, I know that there is A LOT that they did not share. If a dog has been rescued from a kill shelter, then there is even less of a known history to go on.  We love Ollie and couldn't be happier to have him, but there a certainly a lot that we don't know about him.  There are traits that we were told that he had that we have never seen and then we have seen some things that the former owner never mentioned.  We have worked through it though and he is part of the family.

Welcome! Be sure to fill out an application (form at the top of the page), check the slide show on our home page. When you are looking on the home page slideshow notice that the two letters in front of the dog’s name mean the state they are being fostered in. Also click on the Doodles in Need section, and check Petfinder (putting in all zip codes within driving distance), and google in shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Check back often.
