Nancy, Ned and Clancy said… On this site there is a place across the top of the page called doodles in need. Click on it and there are listings of doodles that need homes that are NOT DRC doods but were seen on other sites by DRC volunteers. You can contact the place those doodles are being held. On this site's home page are the PETFINDER listings for DRC doodles. The two letters in front of the dog's name designate the state. For example OH would be Ohio. The application to adopt form is on the top of the page. You can fill out a general application or one for a specific dog (like if you see it on Petfinder).
Here are some more suggestions (I am not techie but have finally figured out some things): go to petfinder. They ask you for your zip code and will show only dogs in that zip. What you need to do is figure out (look at phone book or at post office) for other zip codes within how far you would drive. Then, one by one enter those zip codes and you will see dogs in those areas. Doodles are NOT always listed as doodles so when it asks for breed, try poodle, poodle mix, terrier mix, labradoodle, goldendoodle. Check out all the dogs that seem doodlish because they might be doodles or whatever they are, they appeal to you. Then scroll down on the ones you are interested in and contact whereever they are being fostered. This takes care of Petfinder. Now google in dog shelters. See if you can get a listing of ALL dog shelters (that is what you can do in California) and click on the ones you want to check out. Do this most days because dogs that are doodles tend to go quickly.
Has this helped? Feel free to ask more questions. I would not limit my search to only goldendoodles but open it to labradoodles too. There is not a huge enough difference between the two mixes. Often the mix is only a guess unless you know where the dog was bred.
you can find dogs available for adoption by following the instructions that Nancy gave you..."click on the Doodles in Need section, check Petfinder (putting in all zip codes within driving distance), and google in shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Check back often."
The link for "doodles in need" is at the top of this page.
