Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
We are looking to adopt an adult Labradoodle or Goldendoodle in the next 5 months or so.
Tell us about your doodle(s) and/or other pets that you have:
No other pets at this time.
Where did you get your doodle(s) and/or why you have chosen a doodle
We wanted a family pet but also are looking for a dog to assist our special needs daughter (we have 3 children - 7, 4, and 2) and we have known allergy issues. We know that a Doodle can still trigger allergies, but hopefully not as severely as a full lab or golden retriever.
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Tell us a bit as to why you are here:
Not presently.

Hi Stacey,

Welcome to the DRC website.

Unfortunately, the DRC does not adopt dogs to homes where there are children under the age of 5, (or homes where there are children under the age of 12 if is not a verifiable track record with current or recently deceased dogs in the home), and we do not adopt dogs as service dogs for persons of any age. Most rescue dogs are not suited for service work, although many of them may eventually be able to do therapy work. true service dogs are usually bred and raised from birth for that purpose. You will find our adoption policies here:
http://doodlerescuecollectiveinc.org/notes/DRC_ADOPTION_POLICIES_AND_PROCEDURES
Your best bet is to contact a service dog organization or the Gabby Jack Ranch in California, who specializes in breeding doodles for service and therapy. Please also be aware that many labradoodles and goldendoodles do shed just as heavily as a golden or lab.
Good luck in your search!
