Application Process Time?

I am curious about the time DRC takes to process applications.  I'm sure you get many apps for each dog, and of course, I have my heart set on the precious pictured baby I want! It's easy to see why people get so discouraged adopting human babies!  Anyway, just curious if you have any idea...I would have to make arrangements to drive out of state, and of course, I am so excited to hear back (and hopefully pick her up)! Thanks. See More

Where are you located?
Penrose, Colorado
Tell us about yourself and how we might help you:
I'm female, 58, retired from the state of Colorado, and maintain a small private practice as a licensed clinical social worker. I have had horses, cattle, pigs, dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, hamsters, a turtle, and love all animals. I am the one everyone brings the hurt/lost/stray animals to for care.
Tell us about your doodle(s) and/or other pets that you have:
My daughter has a doodle and I love him! Right now I have no pets, except my BF of 22 years has his Aussie that I care for. She is very old, and such a good sweet dog. I lost my vest friend, THE DRAT, about 2 yrs ago, and have been hesitant to have another dog until now. I have had guardianship of my mother and a friend who died; I have helped my youngest daughter raise her 2 boys while she attends RN school, but now my house is going to be empty, and I want a doodle to share my life with.
Where did you get your doodle(s) and/or why you have chosen a doodle
Never had a doodle...but I think they are adorable! My daughter has one that I have become attached to so would like to have one myself for companionship.
Are you now involved in Rescue? If so, how? Tell us a bit as to why you are here:
No, other than taking in local animals that have needed help. I would be willing to become involved.

Since you have had dogs that don't ride well, you do understand why they try to choose a new owner as near to the dog as possible. Send an e-mail to the same address as the application.  I would say exactly what you told me.  You have had dogs that like riding in the car and dogs that don't and feel that if a dog was matched to you,  you would be willing to travel however far you needed to and safely transport the doodle to your home.

Welcome! When you are looking on the home page slideshow notice that the two letters in front of the dog’s name mean the state they are being fostered in. While the DRC allows out of state applicants they cannot transport the rescues and will not let them fly, so you need to be within driving distance of the foster. Also click on the Doodles in Need section, and check Petfinder (putting in all zip codes within driving distance), and google in shelters and humane societies within your driving range. Check back often.
