Forgive me if I'm at the wrong place on this site. I've found it rather confusing even though I'm pretty internet savvy. My email link sent me to this page to reply to comments left for me. But, I'm reading the question from Sara about children and I have the same question. I see that I don't qualify here since we are looking for our first dog as a family and I have four children. I'm a foster for our local humane society for cats and regularly adopt a cat/s from our high kill animal control foster to get well, fix, vaccinate etc on my own to then find it a good home to give it to. I have also had dealing with local foster groups and have been disqualified for having children. I find this disheartening since kids and pets go so well together. And currently since I really am trying to not counter my ethics of believing in "adopt not shop" ing for pets since far too many are put down for no reason. :(

- I do understand the policies (I did read them.) I have a question about why families with children under ten are not allowed to adopt. I am not asking for you to change the policy for us. I am concerned that it means a doodle would be a terrible fit for my family. We have six children (ages 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and nearly 2.). I just gave up the idea of a poodle (of any kind) because the poodle forum people told me no dog, certainly not a poodle, could live in a house with six children.
We have a household of sad children missing having a dog. Long story, but we've learned a really hard lesson about trusting backyard breeders. We are now trying to figure out if a doodle would be a good match for us. It's fine if we need to follow the route of getting a puppy from a breeder. I just figured you all would know the good, the bad and the funny about doodles and the fact you're willing to tell that they do shed, helps me figure you will be honest.

Ideally our family would LOVE a goldendoodle! We think they are amazing! Unfortunatley I have only met 1 non shedding GD. I have probably come across 4 or 5 here and there and I have 2 friends with them. Since we have had Standard Poodles for the last 15 years we have become very accustomed to a non shedding breed and prefer it. How many non shedders or very low shedders have you come across?

Thank you for your time and advice. I sent an email about the application. I guess I just want to know how long we should wait before we try another place. I would have thought with so many people interested in one dog it would be gone by now. I have talked to foster parents from other doodle rescue locations and they are being adopted within a few days. I guess we are not allowed to talk to the person fostering the dogs. Thanks again for your time.
