Shaggy dog
It is nearly time for Shadow to get his first proper haircut. His fur is much different than our Ginger's. The top of his head is not poofy, the heavier hair is curly and falls down over his eyes if not trimmed, and I even found dreadlocks in his tail... Not fun to try to comb those out but despite the challenge he loves the attention. I just can't get him to stand up while brushing/trimming so one side gets done, and the other remains shaggy. He also has a habit of "chewing" some of his…

CLANCY'S ADOPTAVERSARY (DELAYED)
March was an important month for our household with both Ned and Clancy celebrating their 4th birthdays AND the second anniversary of Clancy's adoption.
Ned and I got our first glimpse of Clancy when we participated in our local no-kill shelter's fundraiser Walk-Around-The-Park.
It was love at first…

As a child, there was nothing quite as exciting as being handed a wrapped present. Christmas or Birthday, it didn’t matter. The gift was for you and there was something special inside. You couldn’t open that box fast enough.

Adopting a doodle has been a similarly exciting experience but I have learned that you have to be patient to get to the wonderful gift that is…

Twinkle Tails - Video Breakthrough!
Well, who said "Old Dogs can't learn new tricks"? Doesn't matter! They were wrong. All you need is a smart daughter to come over on Mother's Day--Happy such to all Rescue Mothers--and demonstrate how to upload videos. Piece of cake after that. So, I've placed two videos of Twinkle getting it on with my daughter's Golden Doodle, Bailey, in "Doodle Wars" and having a "ball" in "Playing Ball is Fun". She and her "step-sisters," Nina (Cairn Terrier) and April (Cocker Spaniel) have a great…

SOPHIE, Last Year's Foster Labradoodle...
Sophie Grace was adopted by Petco's CEO & Chairman of the Board & his family in late 2011. I mentioned her at a Petco Rescue Luncheon and the Manager of the Petco Del Mar, CA, store said: "I see Sophie all the time. They bring her in to get her a toy or something else. She's one happy pampered doodle!" That made my heart feel great!…

Update on Gia (Now Daisy)
Just a quick update on Gia, now named Daisy. Daisy was adopted by a wonderful person named Evelyn back in March. Evelyn has been wonderful about keeping in touch and sharing Daisy's progress with me.
Daisy is a happy and sweet little girl with the most beautiful black coat and very athletic. While she was with us she played hours with my Sheba and they really bonded. Although Daisy was very well behaved she did have some issues with submissive urination when she was frightened,…

Twinkle Tails (formerly Miley) - Having a Ball!
I've got two great playmates, excluding Sharon and Edd, and we have a BALL. I've even got my own way of putting a ball in play--you've got to see how smart I am as I thought of this myself. Oh, and my playmates tazught me to play Tug-of-War; that's fun too. If we do a good job, everyone gets a treat!…
