Doodle Friendly Vacations
Added by Angela on September 28, 2010 at 8:00pm — 5 Comments
We arrived home from our 8 hour drive around 8 pm tonight. Somer was wonderful in the car. She layed or sat quietly, and was very well behaved at all of our pit stops. She has been snooping around the house and playing with everything she can get her mouth on. We removed her stiches and her incision looks great. The kids are in LOVE with her. Mowgli, not so much. He seems a little confused especially since she is so boisterous and doesn't seem to understand his signals yet. We are all very…

Foster Dog Blog #6 - My final chapter, but the story continues
One week ago today Gus left for his new home. I tried to blog about it then, but words just weren’t there; only an emptiness inside me and a quietness in our home. We were amazed at how much of a presence Gus was in our family. But mixed with our loss was a joy to have met Gus’s new family and to be able to feel so good about where he is going.
He has a ten-year old boy to play with and learn with. Every boy should have a dog, and Gus was the kind of dog that needed a boy. They…

Latte - settled in on day 7

I have recently become a new member of DRC after being a member of DoodleKisses and reading about all the doodles in need and the angels at DRC who help to rescue them. I have on more than one occasion been brought to tears both by stories of the horrible conditions of some to the rescues as well as the happy stories that happen because of both DRC and the members of Doodlekisses. Where I live there is presently not a need for doodle rescue but with more doodles appearing everyday I fear…

F. Scottie - the first week...
It has been a full week since Scottie has been fostered with us. He doesn’t have the self-confidence of his big brother Harvey, but he has come a long way in a week. Amazingly, he has had only 1 accident in the house and that was the morning after he arrived. He hadn’t figured out the stair-thingy yet and was afraid to go down the stairs. But fear of the stairs is…

Harvey Foster Doodle - What a difference a week can make!
It SHOCKS me to realize that I've only been fostering this sweet boy for a week, because he has made SO much progress...progress that I didn't expect to see for several weeks.
Harvey now prances. Words fail me when I see him trotting alongside Callie and they both have their heads and tails raised high, gazing confidently about. He's letting down his guard enough to be a little goofy sometimes. He completely eviscerated a stuffed toy - he was so proud you would have thought…

Harvey Foster Doodle - Photo
Hi all - Harvey is coming right along and I'll write a longer update this week. Mostly, I just wanted y'all to see how cute he is! He has an incredibly handsome face and is just brimming with sweetness. He's still scared of some things, but is making great progress! He's getting groomed tomorrow, so I'll post new pictures after that!…

Rocco is my new Foster Darling Doodle!
I welcomed Rocco to my home yesterday. What a sweetie...he is going to make someone the BEST dog ever. I have had Labs all my life; and Rocco takes the cake! Sweet, Teddy Bear dog. Well Behaved, too. He will need some room. He is big; but loves my tiny house!

Foster Latte...the journey begins UPDATED
Friday pm - Latte (named for her coloring) was dropped off at the county animal shelter in Mansfield, Ohio along with her friend Ralph. DRC tagged the duo and Adrianne set about finding a foster home or two. Since they seemed okay separated, Sue Cooper volunteered to foster Ralph and I drove down to pick up Latte (formerly called Roxanne). Latte wasn't very sure of leaving the friends she'd met at the shelter but was a brave doodle…

F. Scottie - the first days...
Yep, Scottie too, was part of Operation Three Caballeros. He is such a skinny, frightened boy but he is slowly coming out of his shell. Wednesday evening when we got home from the doodle train excursion Scottie wasn’t too sure about his new…

OPERATION "THREE AMIGOS" HAS COMMENCED!
Sometimes it's good to hear the wonderful things we are all doing as a group and this is one of those stories. Last Thursday we were contacted by the rescue coordinator of a large city animal control facility in North Carolina. They had three young male doodles who were relinquished by a puppy mill and they needed rehabilitation to help them recover from the trauma of the puppy mill in which they had been born and raised. They need socialization to people and life outside the mill. They need…
