UPDATE ON CALIFORNIA CECE, DRC 2016

CeCe, DRC 2016. CeCe was leash aggressive when she was adopted by her furever people. I am so proud of the hard work they put in to make CeCe part of their family. In CeCe's previous life she was owned by a military family and had lived in several countries with them, so moving is not an issue, but being out and about with her owners on a leash, is absolutely a new and hard-won skill. Those of you with leash aggressive dogs, take heart. CeCe is…

MEET CALIFORNIA BUDDY

Buddy is a 25 pound bundle of energy who loves to give his people sweet little kisses.  He was apparently dumped in a residential neighborhood and was found shivering on a porch after being hosed by another neighbor.  A wonderful good Samaritan who took him in hoped that Buddy would fit into her family. Sadly, that home simply wasn't a good fit, so the DRC was contacted to find a home that will be.  It is easy to see how much he learned with the good Samaritan. He is being fostered by one of…

MEET CALIFORNIA CAGNEY Update- ADOPTED!

Cagney was found wandering in a Wilderness area where there are both coyotes and cougars. That the coyotes or big cats  didn't get him is amazing in itself. We rescued from the Riverside, California KILL Shelter and transported to a foster home in Long Beach.

Look at that face!!! Those eyes!!! He is one puppy bundle of love. The cream long hairs appear to be his puppy coat…

Southern California's Sneak Peek at CeCe

CeCe is a very sweet 4-year-old, 66-pound labradoodle who needs a new home because her owner accepted an overseas job to a country where rental housing is not animal-friendly. He is devastated, but did the right thing by contacting the DRC to find CeCe a new family.   She is house broken and crate trained.  She plays fetch but is not ball obsessed.…

Meet Jules, an adorable puppy, in Southern California- ADOPTED!

Meet Jules, a 25 pound pup, found at a Riverside Shelter.  Picked up as a stray and not claimed, he came the the DRC's attention.  At first he was fearful and intimidated by the shelter environment, but seems to have rebounded with lots of puppy curiosity. His fleecy, red coat is just beautiful and so soft.…

Doodle Rescue Collective attended the Malibu Romp

Doodle Rescue Collective Inc. was the beneficiary of the 2012 Southern California Doodle Romp. This unique picnic, held in the mountains above Malibu, was attended by doodles and their owners, some from out of California. There were silly doodle contests, a raffle, and an auction as well as a catered lunch.  The doodle population included some former DRC rescue doods.  Jacquie Yorke,  DRC National Director, traveled from New Jersey to join Michele Long, DRC's Southern California Director, to…

CLANCY'S ADOPTAVERSARY (DELAYED)

March was an important month for our household with both Ned and Clancy celebrating their 4th birthdays AND the second anniversary of Clancy's adoption.

Ned and I got our first glimpse of Clancy when we participated in our local no-kill shelter's fundraiser Walk-Around-The-Park.

It was love at first…

ANOTHER UPDATE ON SUNNY

This is my favorite picture  - the two rescue boys.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE FOR SUNNY:

Sunny is perfectly crate trained for more than just night time.  He hates and attacks vacuums so I crated him while I cleaned and he just napped until I was done.  Yay!

He is doing very…

SUNNY REALLY IS A DELIGHT! UPDATE

Sunny got off to a rough start - mats, fleas, ticks, torn off nail, kennel cough, neutering, neutering infection (had to wear the dreaded cone for three weeks!). After having him for only ten days, his 'rescuer' fell and broke her hip and was unable to continue caring for him. My daughter kept Sunny for those first weeks. Sunny and her lab quickly bonded with each other. When she had to leave to work in another town, Sunny came to us. Sunny loves our dogs too and we have doodle wrestling and…

RESCUING a DOODLE-of-some-sort

On Friday, Michele of the  DRC sent my DH and I to check out a doodle at the San Bernardino City Animal Control Shelter.  It was to be the dog's last day but the DRC had gotten a hold put on him (Yay!).  He was supposed to be a large white male doodle, but when Michele spoke with a worker there, she was told that the dog was small.   Michele was trying to find a foster home or get the poodle rescue to take him, but…
