Our darling foster Labradoodle Cocoa took a trip to the beauty parlor today and Maureen, of Ye Olde Poodle Parlor, in San Marcos, CA, did a great job, especially considering how badly this girl's coat was matted.  Maureen reported that Cocoa was one of the nicest and best behaved dogs she has ever groomed.

Due to Cocoa's terrible coat condition, Maureen was forced to trim her very closely.  However, she saved some of Cocoa's doodle beard and the rest of her coat and ears will fill out with TLC...

I have loved this darling girl from the moment I met her but, honestly couldn't see beneath that ratty coat to spot the diamond in the rough...

Cocoa is quite a darling.  She is loving, mellow, obedient, smart, and will be quite beautiful when her coat grows out.  She's pretty darn nice looking now!

This is so sweet, Richard.  I am glad you were able to get the shot, it is very special.  I send evil thoughts to Cocoa's former owner every time I think about it.

I have been wanting to get a shot of Cocoa and Jacob, a 3-pound, Maltese rescue.  But, whenever I move, Cocoa moves.  So I put my camera on my desk and Cocoa and Jacob were on a dog bed behind me.  I turned around and was able to get only one shot before Cocoa saw me looking at her and come up to me.

Lonnie, there's no fixed time that a dog must stay in foster; it depends on the individual dog, their health issues if any, whether they are already spayed/neutered, and other factors.

Oh, I don't think Cocoa will be a rescue for long!  She is just  sweet and her eyes are incredible!   Is there a time period that they have to stay in the Foster family?  I am totally new to Foster Parents.

Cocoa and Holly will look great together.  What a wonderful idea to generate more interest in Cocoa and in rescue.

When Judy picked up Cocoa at the groomers, she was walking around freely behind the counter like she was Maureen's own dog.  I don't know if it is my imagination but, she looks like she is a lot more proud than she was with her ratty coat...

We are sorry that her ears needed to be so closely trimmed but, that was necessary... and with TLC, she will regain her doodle ears in a relatively short time.

If it is not too hot, we will take both Holly and Cocoa for a walk in Escondido this evening.  They close off the main street for a car show every Friday evening during the summer.  The two dooodles with contrasting coat colors should make a hit!
