Thank you everyone for your well wishes and suggestions for making the taking of antibiotics easier!  I am so happy I had 2 days off following his eye surgery.  Tomorrow will be the first time he will be home alone for more than 1/2 hour.  He will have to negotiate the doggie door by himself for 4 hours.  We just purchased a smaller cone, which should help some.  The larger cone is the one he was given when he was "hairy", before his shave down.  Now that is neck is so much smaller, the vet suggested going down one size, so we will try it tonight.

He is still banging into everything and everybody, but is getting better with the cone.  He has figured out how to push the door open using it and how to push Ginger out of the way.  Sometimes I find her just staring at him and you know she must just be wondering what he did to deserve the cone!

His eyes are healing nicely, with his left eye looking basically normal and the right eye much less swollen now.  He continues to take his antibiotics (hidden in a small piece of hot dog... the only thing he seems to like) and will now sit well and let me put the ointment in his eyes, knowing a reward is coming immediately afterward.

Can you believe how beautiful his eyes are??  Such a handsome boy!  Well, a few more days (over a week, but don't tell him...) of recovery and then OFF WITH THE CONE!

Marci

What a handsome man!  And how bright and beautiful his eyes look.  What a great foster family Fig has found.

BTW love the photo of Ginger in the background...she is like "wow look at that thing around Fig's head!"

He is gorgeous - I love black doodles. His eyes already look 100X better. Thank you Marci for all that you do.

Marci,

You've been such a wonderful foster mom to Fig. I can't believe how his eyes are looking so much better so quickly!!  He must be pretty smart to figure out how to use the cone as a "tool".  Mine were never that bright, they just kept banging around like a bat in a bright room!
