Labradoodle Rescue & Goldendoodle Rescue
So yesterday was our first 4th of July with Ruby. Since she was a re-home we got in November (typical kids, no time, blah blah blah) we had no idea how she would be, I mean she was okay with thunder storms but one never wants to assume all other big scary noises will be okay. Well she did absolutely great!!! First clue was we went to the beach to watch the fireworks and I put her in her kennel and gave her a special treat and a special toy. Our 78 year old aunt lives with us and when we called to check on the dog she was fine, no howling, barking, crying or whimpering. So I was put to ease a bit with that information, then we get home and she hears the garage door and she does her normal "I am going to lose my mind if you don't come get me mom" bark. So I go in to get her and she is happy, excited, wagging her tell and acting straight on normal...ok good..BUT the night isn't over yet right? Right! So I decide to treat myself to a night swim in the pool an some wine, and of course fuzzy butt has to come..lol. I proceed outside and BOOM! neighbors letting off bottle rockets, spinners, whats its, doo dads and all kind of whizzy whirl things. What does she do? Looks around to see what it was looked at her rubber pool bone wagged her tail and jumped in! Okay that did it, that was the final confirmation that my doodle was okay with fireworks and paid no mind to them. Best part? My chihuahua is scared to death of them and after we came in from the pool she ran up to me crying and jumping on my leg to pick her up, Ruby nudged her with her nose and grunted at her like a bear! What??? Well what this did was get the chi to play and got her mind off the noise and then she went in and laid down with my bichon and was fine the rest of the night.
This first time experience with Ruby was so cool for many different reasons, but; just to see her play through it and use her doodle mind to help my 5lb chi was short of amazing. Happy 4th of July everyone.
