Labradoodle Rescue & Goldendoodle Rescue
Sully (Sullivan) is a wonderful seven and a half year old Goldendoodle whose owners did not want him. They tried to turn him into the San Diego Animal Control Shelter but they were told that the shelter was full and would only accept aggressive dogs for euthanization. The (expletives deleted) owners said, "O.K. he's aggressive, kill him!"
The shelter staff realized that there was no aggressive behavior in Sully and refused to euthanize him. Instead, they called Judy and I.
We have a very good relationship with the shelter staff and they let me visit Sully after hours on Sunday, I spent about 45-minutes with Sully and a vet-technician in the Shelter's yard. That was long enough to realize that Sully was in no way aggressive. .
Sully had spent the day in the supervisor's office playing with little dogs and interacting with the staff. Although the Shelter was closed on Monday, our relationship with the staff came through again. I was allowed to pick up Sully early Monday morning. He had been housed during the night in an individual kennel and had no contact with other shelter dogs.
Sully had been clipped very short but, his face and tail were ragged. I decided to ask my groomer if she could do a quick fix on this boy's face and tail. Sully sat in the lap of the groomer's daughter while the groomer evened up the face and tail a bit. So much for aggressive behavior!
I brought him to our vet for a fecal sample (negative) and a health check (he's O.K.). Sully got along with the entire vet staff and was friendly to the other dogs in the waiting room. He was even friendly to a cat in a Vari-Kennel, sniffing the cat and wagging his tail.
Sully has been great with all our little dogs and with our goldendoodle, Holly. We have one rescue terrier that sometimes is a bit snippy with new dogs but, she and Sully got along just great. Sully is well behaved and totally house trained. He knows his basic commands and will make someone a wonderful pet. Although he is not a pup anymore, he plays like one and we are certain that he has many wonderful years ahead of him in a new loving, furever home...
Sully follows me around like a lamb and right now is sleeping beneath my computer desk next to my feet. What a great dog!
THANKS TO TIFFANY SHIELDS AND THE STAFF AT SAN DIEGO COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL SHELTER FOR RECOGNIZING A NICE DOG AND SAVING HIS LIFE!
