I met with Kyoko at a Starbucks off the highway last Wednesday night. Van Gogh was so frightened and it took awhile to get her out of Kyoko's car and into mine. She smelled terrible and even with all 5 windows rolled down I still couldn't breath. The moment we got home she went right into the bath. My tub turned brown. There were little bugs, poop, straw, grass and who knows what else floating in the water. I did my best but she still stunk. She was scared but she still let Seamus and I love on her. Later that night we put her in the crate, which is our living room. She barked, hollowed and yelped so I slept next to her on the couch, hoping that my presence would calm her and it did. I guess that she was afraid of being alone after living in a shed with 50+ puppies.

The next morning, she got her second bath. She still smelled! While toweling her off, we noticed that her 'male private parts' were missing. Van Gogh's name then became Vanessa.  Guess the "breeder" never looked!

We went to the vet and they confirmed she was a girl - hehe,  I just had to make sure. On the way to the vet she pooped in my car. I wasn't thrilled but it turned out to be a good thing because I forgot to bring the bag of poop for the vet. And now I had some to give her. They said her ears were horrible. That she had three different infections in both ears. Besides her docked ear due to frost bite, her injured but healed nostril, and the infections; she is a healthy, happy puppy! Unfortunately, because of her infections she has to wait another week to get vaccinated and spay.

Vanessa is a sweet, loving, energic puppy. She thrives on attention, follows me and Mickey everywhere. Mickey loves playing with her.  Mickey is a very easy going doodle but doesn't like when Vanessa tries to sleep on him, next to him is just fine :)

Update on Vanessa. She is now in her forever home with us, Roger and RoseAnn, plus our Goldendoodle, Max, and Norfolk terrier, Dudley. We have renamed her -Ziva. Ziva is doing beautifully. She has gained 3 lbs. and loves to chase her new brothers around the yard. Ziva is very attached to Roger, we joke that we may need to rename her Shadow. She is still tentative around strangers, but loves other dogs. Thanks to Marissa and Lorelei for giving her such a great rescue start!!

Vanessa looks like she has a perpetual doodle head tilt because of her ears - how cute is that!?!?  Thank you for taking this little stinker in and showing her what life is like with a family that cares about her.

Thank you Mickey for showing Vanessa the ropes and even letting her get a little too close when she's sleeping, you are an awesome foster sibling.

Thank you  Marissa and Seamus! You are doing a great job with this pup!  And many thanks  to the incredible Kyoko Henson who is always ready and willing to drop everything, jump in her car and drive to ishkabib with little to no notice....We really are so lucky to have such an incredible doodle rescue family!

thanks for cleaning her up!  It does smell so bad, one of my fosters smelled up my car for over 2 1/2 hours while I drove home. Can't wait to see how beautiful she looks when she is cleaned up! thanks for all your hard work.

@ Adrianne, I was soooo worried that I am going to get in trouble by the rent-a-car people!! I thought that smell will never come out of the car!!! ( I still have that car, too...)
